Oblivious to the pressure of landing in the Central Coast Section Division II boys water polo finals for the first time in school history, the Carmel Padres had been fearless in the pursuit of a title. But the outcome of the championship game left them in a state of disbelief.
“Right now they’re feeling pain,” first-year Carmel coach Brett Luch said. “In time, it will sink in what this team has accomplished. This group truly did something remarkable.”
